Isha Yoga Center - Velliangiri | Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple

Isha Yoga Center, locally known as ‘the ashram’, is located on 150 acres of lush land at the foothills of the Velliangiri mountains of the Western Ghats. It is located close to the Nilgiri Biosphere, a national reserve forest with abundant wildlife. This popular destination attracts people from all parts of the world for its unique approach towards all the four major paths of yoga called Gnana, Karma, Kriya, and Bhakthi (knowledge, action, energy and devotion respectively). There are more than 4000 volunteers working in the complex. It is the centre for those who look for spiritual experience and healthier lifestyle. They conduct courses from daily basis to monthly term with accommodation facilities available. The serene environment and distinctive interior designs of the rooms attract the guests. Lord Shiva is the presiding deity here and all the rituals for him only. The temple complex is a fusion of various elements, each of which is worth a visit. There is an audio/visual facility center where you will be shown a short introductory video giving a better idea of the temple, background and history. The 112 feet Adiyogi Shiva statue is another major attraction here. The place is usually crowded on the days of Maha Shivaratri, an holy day for lord Shiva.
