Vellore Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple - Golden Temple

Popularly called as Sripuram Golden Temple, this temple is an exotic architecture carved in gold mostly. It is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and so the temple is also known as 'Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple'. Nearly 1500 Kilograms of gold were utilized to build the temple. The temple has an intricate work done by artisans specialized in temple art. Every single detail in the temple was manually created which includes converting the gold chunks into foils, mounting the foils on copper and so on. Gold foil from 9 to 10 layers has been mounted on the etched copper plates.

It is worthy to mention that it took 7 years to complete the construction, which is a very short time comparing its architecture. The temple was made available to the public in August 2007. Since then, the temple has been attracting thousands of devotees. The temple design represents a star shaped path (called as Sri Chakra) running a length of around 1.8 km. The temple is surrounded by a wonderfully maintained lush green landscape. Tourists have to pass through this path to reach the main shrine. A visit to this beautiful temple will give a glimpse of spiritual relief and leisure moments.
