Supa Dam in Dandeli - 100 metres high and 330 metres wide.

One of the largest dams in Karnataka, Supa dam is built across the river Kali, at a distance of 25 km from Dandeli town. The motto behind this construction is to cater the irrigation and electricity purposes of the surrounding regions. It was named after โ€˜Suparuluโ€™, believed to be the Goddess of the forest by the locals. The dam has a storage capacity of 145 Thousand Million Cubic Feet and a catchment area of 1100 sq km. The construction of the dam was started in 1974 and finished in 1987. The dam has a power house at its foot with two electric generators of 50 megawatts each. The dam is 100 metres high and 330 metres wide. The dam is blessed with a picturesque backdrop to sit, relax, and unwind. Also, the river Kali offers water rafting activities at the base of this dam. But, it depends upon the water level of the dam. It should be in equilibrium stage so that the raft should not hit the rocks when the water level is low or should not overturn when the water is wild.
