Thusharagiri Waterfalls - Beautiful Waterfalls in Malabar Region

Thusharagiri waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Malabar region, literally means 'snow capped mountains'. Two streams originating at the Western Ghats converge here to form the Chalippuzha river. The falls is enveloped by the evergreen forests adding to the pristine beauty. The river diverges into three waterfalls offering enough space for the people to enjoy freely. The highest of the three is the Thenpara fall dropping from a height of 75 meter. The first waterfall can be reached easily while the other two require trekking through thick forest. A 5 km upstream trek will take one to the origin of the stream. The place offers challenging trek and rock climbing opportunities.

There is a trek path from Thusharagiri to Vythiri of Wayanad and it is not for the physically weak. The trekking starts from Kodenchery village. Having a dip in the cool water here is highly recommended to revive oneโ€™s body and mind. One can find the plantations of arecanut, pepper, ginger and other spices along the drive to the falls, which itself is a stop over sight. The waterfalls never dry out so can be visited throughout the year. Because of heavy downpour and slippery conditions during monsoons (June & July), it is not an ideal time to visit. The best time to visit Thusharagiri waterfalls is from September till December. It can be added in the itinerary driving from Kozhikode to Wayanad.
