Silicon Valley of India...


This big city is termed as Silicon Valley of India for its software centre. The name Bengaluru is derived from the Kannada word "Benda kaalu" (boiled beans). The ancient town of the Hoysala Dynasty and then reformed by Kempe Gowda in the early 16th century. Two centuries later, this place was fully occupied by Muslim Invader Tipu Sultan. The British came here in 1831 and built many colonial style residency buildings. This city offers cultural heritage, traditional art and craft, shopping malls, nightclubs, golf courses, resorts and health spots, historic monuments and science & technology parks. Bull Temple

Basavanagudi...


This dravidian style temple is the oldest temple in the city which was built by Kempe Gowda in 16th century in Basavanagudi. It contains a huge granite monolithic statue of Nandi (Bull) - the mount of Lord Shiva, measuring nearly 5 m in height and over 6 m length. Just below the Bull temple is the huge Dodda Ganesh Temple with a monolithic Ganesha idol measuring about 5.5 m high and nearly 5 m wide.

ISKCON Temple

A Spiritual Community...


This temple ( International Society of Krishna's Consciousness ) is meant for Lord Krishna and is built on the hillock (60 m) with granite, marble and glass. This main objective of this worshipping place is to promote the Vedic culture and spiritual learning. The annual Rath Yatra (Chariot Procession) attracts thousands of devotees.

Lal Bagh Gardens

The Red Garden...


One of the most richly diverse botanical gardens in South Asia was designed by the Muslim Invader Hyder Ali in 1740. Spread over 240 acres of land, many tropical and subtropical plants were brought by the son of Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan. A glass house based on the London's Crystal Palace, is a venue of famous flower show.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace

Example of Indo-Islamic Architecture...


This Palace was a summer retreat of Tipu Sultan in Bengalaru is a two storied ornate structure notable for its elegant teak pillars, cusped arches and balconies. It now houses a museum that contains artifacts relating to the Haider-Tipu regime.

A Neo-Dravidian style building that houses the State Legislature and the Secretariat of Karnataka. The intricate carvings,motifs, cornices that resembles the mix of Dravidian, Chola, Hoysala and Rajasthani styles of architecture.
