This is one of the loveliest hill stations of Kerala with a height ranges from 700 m to 2100 m above the sea level. This region is ideal for making the cultivation of tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom and rubber. The lush green heaven is tranquil,picturesque and rich in wildlife. The ancient carvings in the natural caves at Edakkal speaks about the highly civilized people of pre-historic ages. The famous Jain temple at Kalpetta indicates that wayanad was once a stronghold of Jains. Chembra peak is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2100 m above the sea level and is suitable for trekking. Lakkadi is one of the tourist spots in wayanad with lofty mountains and thick forests. The Banasura Project is the largest earthern dam in India and the second largest in Asia located in the midst of lovely, mist-clad hills of Wayanad.
