The Queen of Hill Stations...


Ooty termed as "Nilgiris", One of the oldest mountain ranges older than Himalayas. Located at the tri junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. It is a part of western ghats. This hill station holds 16 tunnels and is 2600m above the sea level. The 1908 Ooty Mountain Rail was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage. They are named as Nilagiri because the shrub Kurunji turn the hill blue with its blossoms very after 12 years. Covered with high altitude grasslands and evergreen forests, they are of special interest to Botanists and Entomologists. This tour offers enchanting Glimpses of lush green valleys, hill stations and hamlets inhabited by tribal people.The high altitude of the Nilgiris produces a cooler and wetter climate than the surrounding plains, making the region a popular retreat from the summer heat of the state.

Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden:


This sprawling 50-acre garden houses more than 1000 varieties of plant, shrub, and tree including orchids, ferns, alpins and medicinal plants. During the peak season (April-May), agri-horticultural show, spring flower show and dog show are held. The annual flower show is held in the third week of May.

Ooty Lake

Ooty Lake:


This lake was built in 1825 as a vast irrigation tank and is now more than half overgrown with water hyacinth, though it is still used enthusiastically for boating and pedalo hire.

Doddabetta

Doddabetta:


The Doddabetta Peak stands at an altitude of 2,623 meters. It is the highest point in the district, making it possibly the best vantage point around Ooty. There is a "Telescope house" that is run by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation in the Doddabetta Peak to enable the tourist to get a better view.

Government Museum

Government Museum:


The Government Museum houses tribal objects, district's ecological details and representative sculptural arts and crafts of Tamil Nadu.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary:


The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also declared as Tiger Reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills(Blue Mountains). The protected area is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian Elephant, Bengal Tiger,guar and Indian leopard. There are at least 266 species of birds in the sanctuary. The sanctuary is divided into five ranges: Masinagudi, Theppakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota. There are 48 tigers in the Nilgiri Reserve across which tigers are free to roam.

Dolphin's Nose

Dolphin's Nose:


Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint is a tourist spot in Coonoor. The tip of the peak resembles a Dolphin's nose, hence the name Dolphin's Nose. It is an enormous rock formation that is entirely unique. There are gigantic ravines found both to the left and right of Dolphin's Nose, Best part of spot are the hairpin turns and tea plantations on the way.

Sim's Park

Sim's Park:


Sim''s Park is in Coonoor. It is an important tourist place to visit in Coonoor, at a height of 1780 meters above mean sea level. This is a natural garden. Inside the park there are some beautiful terrace with colorful flower beds, lawns and rockers. There are some Naturally occurring trees, shrubs, creepers and many unusual species of plants that have been brought from a variety of places around the world. There is a glass house housing different ornamental plants and flowers. This park has more than 1000 species of 255 genres belonging to 85 families widely covering different group of plants.

St. Stephen's Church

Saint Stephen's Church:


The church dates back to the 19th century. Stephen Rumbold Lushington, the then Governor of Madras, who keenly felt the need for a church in Ooty exclusively for the British, laid the foundation for the church on April 23, 1829, to coincide with the birthday of King George IV.
